GEO for-profit immigrant detention center

Regis students host Dia De Los Muertos Vigil at the GEO Immigrant Detention Center to protest record deaths in custody along the border and remember people who lost their lives trying to emigrate.

The Center for Service learning and Engaged Scholar Activists organizes this event every year out of a deep dedication and care for the issue. "As students, we want to use the limited power and resources we have available to support an initiative that deeply impacts many of us. This semester's theme, 'Day of the Dead,' is an homage to the holiday that brings families back together with their loved ones. May those who have lost their lives due to the issues of migration be present with us tonight." states Ashley Garcia Torres, Engaged Scholar Activist at Regis University.

If you are able to bring a picture or a flower that would be lovely. We will have silk screening (printing onto shirts) available onsite (for a small fee you can take a shirt home).

Estudiantes de Regis organizan vigilia del Día de los Muertos en el Centro de Detención de Inmigrantes GEO para protestar por la tasa alta de muertes bajo custodia, incluyendo a Melvin Calero Mendoza, a lo largo de la frontera y recordar a las personas que han fallecido en el intento de migrar

El Centro de Aprendizaje de Servicio y Activismo Académico (CSL) organiza este evento cada año con una profunda dedicación y preocupación por el tema. Ashley Garcia Torres de CSL explica "Como estudiantes, queremos utilizar el poder y los recursos limitados que tenemos disponibles para apoyar una iniciativa que afecta profundamente a muchos de nosotros. El tema de este semestre, "Día de los Muertos", es un homenaje a la festividad que reúne a las familias con sus seres queridos. Que aquellos que han perdido la vida debido a los problemas de la migración estén presentes con nosotros esta noche."

Si pueden traer una foto o una flor, sería genial. Tendremos servicio de serigrafía (impresión en camisetas) disponible en el lugar (por un pequeño costo adicional, podrán llevarse una camiseta a casa).
