I was born in Virginia, to a Naval Officer and his wife. As my dad was transferred from duty station to duty station I was raised clear across the country. I never went to any one school more than two years in a row until I went away to the University of Arizona to earn a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a physics minor. The summer I graduated I went job hunting via Greyhound, and finished having been through all of the lower 48 states of the USA. I've worked as an information technology professional for more than four decades, currently retired from a banking company and formerly with the Federal Highway Administration (Yes, I am a recovering bureaucrat!). While with the FHWA I swore an oath to the Constitution, and learned what it is to be a public servant. On April 19, 1995 I learned that any public servant may, without warning, give his life for no other reason than having reported for his job on time on a particular morning. I lost eleven colleagues in the Federal Building in Oklahoma City, OK. I am married to Priscilla "Tril" Rutledge, who has made a name for herself by her own activism in eliminating Capital Punishment from Colorado. I have had the pleasure of voting in states where I could write in my own name for an office on the spur of the moment, then discuss the whys and wherefores with an old-fashioned journalist who saw it in the election results. I now live in Colorado, where a write-in candidate must file an Affidavit months before election day, before any voting begins. So conversely, while serving as an Election Judge, I was unable to give the voters the secret list of names to write in, which would have their write-in votes be counted, rather than ignored! I have been accosted by law enforcement (or by a person claiming to be law enforcement) several times. Three times while involved in electioneering, and another time being locked up for interrogation almost six hours ... and learning a lot about the "New World Order" types who feel they are above "Constitutional Rights" ... but even then I was not "under" arrest!!! My Libertarian experience began back in the seventies,as a volunteer doing everything from stuffing envelopes to gathering signatures for candidates from County Council to President. I have run for office several times, and have no fear of losing. This time, however, I think I have enough ammunition to win. What I will need, please, is your personal support: your votes, your dollars, and your sweat. Thank you.
